AI als katalysator van polarisatie

AI-generated content is increasingly being used to inflame emotions and deepen distrust.

One example from the riots on the Malieveld is this image, spread online by an influencer. At first glance the photo looks genuine, but on closer inspection the police officer has two right hands. The accompanying text suggests the government itself invented the rioters and fabricated evidence of unrest. The implication: did the government generate these images, and were the riots even real?

This content is deliberately produced to sow disorder.

Look closely at the accounts spreading it, and you will find that many have bought their followers.

This is how certain groups weaponise AI and social media to fuel doubt, fear and polarisation.

What can you do? Help your friends and neighbours slow down before accepting alarming posts at face value.
